you flushing it with ear muffs?

if so simple back pressure on the exhaust when its submerged ie in the water

tunning issues, which could mean almost anything sorry :)

Does it start easy for the first time and then hard afterwards when it's warm in the water??
If so is the motor over 7 years old??
If so then top and bottom seals might be cactus.
What motor is it??

yeah using earmuffs when on land, its a 30 tohatsu 2003 2 stroke, when warm it started ok a couple of times but if left for five minutes or or more its a bit difficult again.

Is each start in the water after a say a 2 week layup, yet each start on the muffs is after a trip on the water.

How is the compression, if ok it might be time for a carby and associated linkage etc tuneup.

cheers fnq

Hi Matt.I'm with finger on this one, thinking quite possibly seals.I had an old tower of power inline 6 cyl Merc that started doing the same thing. An inspection of the plugs particulaly the bottom one showed signs of corrosion, water entering inside.Best to get checked out and a compression test done.Hope this helps.

Cheers Steve

Had the same thing with my Johno ( 140hp 1990 V4 OMC )

It was back pressure........we adjusted the idle and a quick tune...........perfect.

My mate Johno had the same problem.
We just kept him off the home brew and stopped the onion gravy on his mashed potatoes ::)
