Just a quick report - Old man went out last Thursday for a quick trip to the banks, with a 5am crossing of the Noosa bar, they said the seas calmed right down the closer the got to the banks. They had good shows on the sounder, with snapper, tuskies, and red throat coming aboard and also a 8kg cobia. The cobia bellow was caught on a floating pillie on a Shimano back bone rod, Tekota 700 reel with 15kg maxima line, it weight in at 28+KG.

Good size cobe, nice catch, but the condition of it looks terrible.
Looks like it was left on the floor of the boat in the sun all day!:o
Ice man, Ice.
Cheers, Jeff.

Yeah they said they didnt have ice, but kept in the shade with lots of water on it, cobe was fine, pic makes it look a little worse for wear. He also said the pic does not do it justice, ill see if he had a pic with the fish upright.
He said it took 25min to land, with only two big screaming runs
He went out to the banks yesturday again and got 4 8kg cobes, 7 big tuskies, and a heap of husser. Ill see if I can get some more pics off him.
* Some more pics above * maybe bigger then 28kgs?

Thats an aweesome Cobia! What an adrenaline rush - he must have been stuffed at the end of that fight, then trying to haul it aboard at the end with the gaff as well. Good on ya you lucky buggers. Top stuff. Darren.
