I use a Pental Paint Pen with 0.5 nibs on them from Officeworks (there ya go Pete...a free plug :)).
They cost $5 or $6 and come in gold, silver for certain because I'm looking at them now and maybe white but can't say for sure.

What I have used for the past six years, is Testors Paint with a fine art pen...it works great...if you make a mistake, all you have to do is wipe it off and start over...:)

Fred, personally I always hated writing on the blank. There are heaps of variables which all affect how it turns out. The blank itself being round, the individuals penmanship and the quality of the product being put on. I could never really get it right. Now I order specially made decals from The Decal Connection in the US. I include the owners name, my logo and the line class of the rod. They do an excellent job. It does cost about $10 per decal to get it here but, IMHO, it looks far more proffessional, especially if you are building quite a few rods for different people.

have you tried the do-it-yourself decals Mark??
I was going to get some sheets of the stuff off Colleen at AcidRod but have never gotten around to it.
You can it them for bubble jets and with the price of colour lazer printers now it might be worthwhile as an option as well.
I saw the colour lazer for $250 at the local Officeworks when I went to get a replacement printer yesterday.
Printers for $19...unbelievable :-/

Finga,

Myles (Bearclaw) Boon has been doing his own decals for a while now. He has an ALPS pinter I think and his decals come out really well. Myles printed me out some of my logo's in gold and silver which I have been using. They take a little while to get used to as they can rip very easilly. I have to proffess, I know how to turn computers on and off and a few little things to get me by, but I hate playing around trying to design and get things to fit. I leave that for others who know better.

I also did a search a while ago for a decal company in Australia but couldn't find any that did water slides. If anyone knows of somewhere that does, I'd appreciate an email if possible.

Regards
Mark

Hey Mark,

If you want to order some of that non-tear decal paper from decal connection I will happy to do them again for you. All that thread work you can do and you can't put a decal on with out tearing it.>:(

Thanks for the vote of confidence Myles. It must have something to do with losing my eyesight, onset of dementia and having sausages for fingers LOL. I still have quite a few of the original decals you sent me but I will take you up on the offer at some stage. I haven't heard from you for a while. I hope all is well with you and the family.

Best Regards
Mark

Hi Mark,

I purchased some waterslide decal paper from 'Decal Specialists' and used the laser printer at work, they came out good but the problem is standard colours are difficult to see on a blank. I don't know how to get gold, silver or white ink.

They can do white and shiney ;D

Apparently the model railway buffs love them as well for their transfers

Dannys no is 0438012629. He can put four own picture on if you want.Scary thought!!!

Scott, Im still in the background, playing with emu leg skins for decoration at present. Im building a new toy at present 9ft surf plastic spin.
20mm single foot silicon reversed 16 the rest 10'sin recoils silicon tip. Looks ugly but casts out of sight. The reversed stripper in single foot makes a hell of difference.
