As of April 09, Lake Samsonvale becomes part of the stocked impoundment scheme.

Up until now the Lake has been stocked using funds raised by the Pine Rivers Fish Stocking Assoc and releases made by SEQ Water. The bulk of the funds raised for stocking come from the Boating Access scheme administered by the stocking group.

The result of this has been a large shortfall in the number of fish which could have been stocked each year. Hopefully the SIP scheme will go some way towards improving this situation by adding additional funds to the money raised by PRFMA and also ensuring funds in the years that the boating access scheme cant be run.

Currently this impoundment consistently produces on average the largest bass of any impoundment in Queensland but it could be made even better. As you probably know the SIPS money is allocated in two ways. Firstly, money is allocated via surface area and being only 2000 hectares nth pine is by no means a large lake and consequently can't expect a great deal of funds in this manner.

Secondly, when we purchase a permit we can choose where the rest of our money goes. Hopefully with its location being in the middle of a large population area and the excellent returns which can be had from bank fishing here, enough people will support the lake so that in 3 or 4 years time it will be an unbelievably good fishery.
