New SP Rod

Hi guys

im keen on getting a new sp rod, but however my budget isnt superb. i have a bout $300.
any suggestions on a good rod and reel combo for under 300 would be appriciated,

i recently got a penn appplause 1000 and find it the best bang for your buck till you get up round 200 bucks.if you loook around u should be able to find one for round 80bucks.that will leave plenty for a rod.

One of the major tackle stores has 25% off all Shimano gear at present. I bought a Steve Starling Squidgy SP for $89.00 yesterday. It's the slightly heavier 2-5kg version. The 2-4kg version would be similar dollars. Gave it a quick flick today, seems OK for the money.

Try looking at the Daiwa Exceler reel in 1500 or 2000 size. A really fine little reel for the money at around $120 - $140. Lots of really good rods around that will get you within your budget.

on a 2-4 kg berkley dropshot and its nice combo
the rod is around 90
and i got the reel on ebay for 85 so have a look around
