Do motors have an in built hour meter? I left the ignition on for 24 hrs and hence the taco says 24 extra, but this is not really a true indication of actual hours run.

Hmm how does one find out how many hours a motor has done? I'd like to find out whether mine really has done only 130 hours.

Matt.

take it to a mechanic and he will be able to put it on a scan/diagnostic tool and find out all the info

You will only get engine hours out of an engine that has an ECU/EMM/ECM and this generally is with EFI engines. Carby engines have the old black box and that includes 4 bangers.

Aslo each manufacturer has there own Diagnostic software and means to access the ECU etc. (the software is the small part the cables and gear required to access is the hard part and the expensive part) I think it would be rare to find any outboard servicing outlket which could access mmultiple brands of engines.
