hi guys

i am interested in painting a rod blank
i have got the paint , i just need to know what the softening agent people use is called and where i can purchace it

you can get a product at places like Supa Creep that is a plasticising agent for use in painting plastic bumpers, that may be what you mean.

Just be careful with the plasticizer (flex aid) as some are used for acrylic and some for 2 pack paints.

U could try acrylic lacquer thinners - I have used it to help remove laquer on some of my woodturned items that have become scratched - ensure there is plenty of ventilation and use gloves
