View Full Version : Loctite freeze and release

Has anyone tried Loctite Freeze and release on nuts.Supposed to work well,but would like to hear it from the horses mouth, so to speak.

Hi David,

Yeah I have used it. When accessing the crappy design of brakes on my trailer. All of the bolts holding the capalier onto the axle had seized.

Worked for most bolts, on the most stubbon one I resorted to heat as well, still didn't work ended up snapping the head off the bolt, then having to drill it out.

It does work, I had some doubts to start with as well.

Hey that's just freeze spray, which has been around for a long time. I guess no one has thought to stick that label on it until now :-) Can't see why it wouldn't help.

seeing as you got a yamaha in the back ground.. ur gonna need alot of it...

haha... havent used it as such.. i just get the Oxy out... works a treat.

It's not just freeze spray - it's freeze lube and it's the ducks nuts.

It freezes the seized part and lubes the thread as it separates.

Not the cheapest stuff ever sold in a spray can but well worth it in the right circumstances.

Actually,its to recover some ali wheels from an old trailer axle.
Didnt want to use any heat.

The guys in Workshop use it all the time they reckon it works well, when we have the money too buy it, Bloody mr Rudd cut our budjet cant defend tassy let alone Australia.

I guess what it comes down to is, if you have a seized/rusted/stuck/buggered nut or bolt, then anything is worth a try, I would doubt a Company with the reputation of Loctite would sell rubbish, so if you need some help, use it, and freeze spray, and penetrene and Oil and heat anything you can use!

I used the stuff often when I had a radiator business, top stuff. Just be careful which nuts you spray or you may end up with frozen assets.

I have never used it myself, how long does it last and what is the chemical?...co2??
