I have 65h.p suzuki motor on my boat. Anyone know how well these motors last. Spares? etc.

Will a 30 hp Suzuki do the job just as well? The 30 hp is pretty new and goes well. Any help gratefully accepted.

Hi Rudi,

30hp is definitely not big enough for a 15 footer. The 65hp sounds like a good match, and as far as I know Suzuki are a good reliable engine, with service and parts freely available.
Hope this helps
Dave

Thanks for your reply Dave. Am still a bit worried as mechanic is indicating there maybe problems ahead with this particular model.

For what it's worth Rudi,
I've got a Crestrida 18 footer, & we've got an old V4 Johnson 140 on the back.

Ive got a 15" nautiglass and it had a 50 hp 2 stroke on the back and it went just great. I replaced it with a 60 yamaha 4 stroke and it goes very similar. Heaps of speed. Though never running it much past 4000rpm. Its getting rare to be out in the boat these days so when I do get out its a nice cruise and enjoy the scenery. ;D

I have a 14'6" fibeglass runabout with a 50hp Yamaha 2 stroke (1995, 114 hours)...

I wouldn't reccomend much less... 30hp might see you having trouble keeping on the plane at less than max rpm.
