Seems to me that the closures are not all that important. A minister can say, oh bugger it, we'll do away with that one....??? What The ?

Making rules to suit ones self does not sit well with me.

OK, it may be a commonsense thing to do, but surely the minions would have taken that into consideration when the dates were first announced... or are they oblivious to the real world ??

Totally agree,Phill.....

This decision..right or wrong ..seems to trivialize the ideals behind the stated purpose of the closures in the first place..

Probably a case of an election coming up maybe? Votes are more important than their environmental rubbish.

But I think it's a great idea. I just question the motivation.

Cheers,

Tim

Yep any other time your a criminal and fined but when they choose they let every industry just smash the fish at will there must have been some fisheries officers that wanted to wet a line for once instead of confiscating them.

Dave, this is on the official website:-

http://www.cabinet.qld.gov.au/MMS/StatementDisplaySingle.aspx?id=61345

it is linked through here on the DPI site:-

http://www.dpi.qld.gov.au/cps/rde/dpi/hs.xsl/28_3055_ENA_HTML.htm

The closures for 2008 will be:
22 October 2008 to 30 October 2008 (inclusive)
21 November 2008 to 29 November 2008 (inclusive)
21 December 2008 to 29 December 2008 (inclusive). This closure is under review (http://www.cabinet.qld.gov.au/MMS/StatementDisplaySingle.aspx?id=61345).It does state that the Minister is awaiting the Governors approval, I would say this is a given. But I suppose it is not in writing.

cheers Phill
