behind the front thwart seat might be the go. Make sure you get it welded in properly.

Looks interesting

How long is the hull?I would keep the console back towards the centre of the boat. Too far forward and your ride is pretty bad in a tinny. If in calm waters only, against the forward seat would give more room

1. console welded against the front seat, depth say 400, plus standing 500 behind the console to operate puts you pretty much in the middle of the boat.
2. Would make an awkward little area between the seat and the console if you put it further back also.
3. greater strength welded against the seat rather than just to the ribs

When I did my centre console conversion back in around 2000, 4.3 Stessl heavy duty tinny, although I took both seats out to make more floor space, behind the front seat is about where my console went. End up steering from about the middle of the boat as I said.

Anyway, all just pissing in the wind opinions without seeing it in person IMHO.

It looks to be gal sheet with the framing aluminium, behind the front seat somewhere would work so your personal bulk stands nearer to the centre than not, the front seat can make the back of a nice storage and casting/anchoring platform.

Strictly the console seems too low to be well utilised without building the boat base up to accommodate it somehow, that is if you intend to stand, which will be the most comfortable position.

cheers fnq

Console position depends a lot on how you fish from the boat and what you want out of it. A rearward console gives you a softer ride and more room for casting lures and such from up the front, but if you handline or bottom bash a lot, you may be better served by a more forward console that gives you a larger area rearwards.
Also beware about removing the seats. Its fine to do this but too many people DONT put any form of floatation BACK into the boat after. Thwart seats are usually the ONLY form of flotation a tinny has.(they are filled with flotation foam)
