Is there any problem with using a motor when the propeller is chipped? Apart from lost efficiency etc., will it cause any permanent harm?
The chip is on one blade (3-blade prop) and a 50HP motor, 4.5m f/glass open boat.
Probably about an inch taken off the end of the blade. :(

I would be getting a new prop asap as an imbalanced prop caused by having that much missing will cause you problems with prop shaft bearings and gear box seals.

Thought so. Thanks for that.
Was gonna sneak in a session before I could get the new prop, but I'll just wait and be safe.
Cheers.

Send it to solas and see if it can be rewelded and ground back to it's original specs and balanced, then keep it as a spare............................................. ......s/s looks nice and shiny on an outboard engine.

I think the repair would cost about 80 bucks for the damaged blade....
