Registering an imported vessel

Have a mate who has imported a 16ft Side Console boat, but it has no manufacturers compliance plate etc.
Anyone know what needs to be done so this boat can be registered?

I guess needs to be "Boat coded" and some sort of receipt as proof of ownership, I think all the other stuff is not mandatory.

Noelm, how do you get a boat coded???

not too sure what state he is in, but in NSW almost all marine Dealers do it, some will come to your house (for a fee) but most want you to take the Boat to them, they measure it and do some "things" then issue and fix the HIN number on a plate in the right place.
