I have recently purchased a second hand Quintrex 500 Freedom Sport (bowrider) which has a 90hp Honda 4 stroke on the back (carburetor model).

I haven't had it long enough to go through a tank yet and was wondering what sort of fuel economy I could expect. I realise I will work it out soon enough but when I do I would like to know if it is about right.

Happy to hear about any comparisons

probably too many variables here to make a "best guess" but do a search on Boatpoint Motor tests and find your Motor, see what they can provide, but as long as the Motor is setup correctly and has the right prop to allow for full RPM, then you will be fine.

Ditto what Noelm said.

If the setup is good, you will get performance and economy.

THanks guys, I realise this is a bit of a "How long ia a piece of string" question. Motor has a vengeance 16" prop and get 5800 rpm at WOT which seems pretty good. At that it is doing about 38knts. Cruise at 4600rpm at 30knts.

That was with 4 adults and a full boat. Just trying to get a graps on how much fuel would go through before I set out too far. Thanks again

Hi, we have a Freedom Sport with a Yamaha 60 HP (4 Str).

We average just over 4 litres per hour with a mix of cruising up the river, out in the bay and up on the dam.

Hope it helps, regards,

Rob

You have a great donk there KJ,

I had the same motor on a similar weight boat and it was a real fuel miser. I sold it to some local fellas a few years back.......it must have done over a 1000 hrs by now and still powering............Garry will vouch for this.

good luck Jimmy

Darren.

I had a 98 model Honda 90 on the back of a 560 Qunnie Legend for years. It used to spin to 5800rpm for 52km/h and cruise at 4200rpm for 38km/h. It used to consistently get 2.3km/l, all day every day. That thing never missed a beat.
