For trolling purposes and one motor a tiller steer job is easier to control. A bowmount like a MK RT55AP with autopilot tends to yaw badly but track to the intended trolling line quite well. This yawing can be overcome with a simple rudder made up on the transom. A few guys (myself included) use both a tiller and a bowmount in unison for the best control. We cut an alloy or plastic vane and cable tie it to the tiller motor to create a rather large rudder on the tiller motor. They track perfectly with this setup even in 20 knot cross winds.
Jack.
