I came across this article in the September Bush & Beach mag.
They are recalling red hand flares supplied by BOB LITTLER Agencies Pty Ltd.
It may not comply with Australia Standard 2092-2004, it is likely that the flare wont be seen from the correct distance.
The article states that carrying recalled equipment is the same as not carrying it and you will may get a on the spot fine.
The products being recalled is red hand flares, product code 222052, batch numbers 143847(expirery date 07/2010), 145303(expirery date 01/2011).
These products are also contained in the following BLA kits: Offshore Flare Kit-Tasmania and South Australia, product code 222070; Trawler Flare Kit, product code 222074; Offshore Flare Kit-Western Australia, product code 222075; and Inshore Flare Kit-NSW, product code 222076.
The product code can be found on individual product in the black panel closest to the hand grip end of the flare and on flare kits directly above the bar code on the front packaging card. These products were available for sale from July 30, 2007

For futher information go to www.recalls.gov.au (http://www.recalls.gov.au) for Australian products recall information.

I seen this in the Courier Mail as well around that time. There were 2 ads - it also mentioned the Orange Hand Held Flares also. Thanks for the post. Have checked mine back in Sept - all good. Cheers, Darren.
