Permatrim

Hi everyone. Quite a few years ago now I had a permatrim on a Yammy 40hp (2 stroke) and I was really happy with the results. I now have a little 375 tinny with a yammy 20 (2 stroke) and I'm thinking Permatrim again. I wouldn't mind having a crack at making my own though. Does anyone have the dimensions of one? I was thinking 5mm alloy plate but I'm after length and width of it and how far down the sides are turned.

is it the same model for a 20hp as a 40hp?

Hi Leighton, I checked the website and I think they make one to suit 6 to 30 hp and then it's a different one for the 40 up. Do you have one on a 40hp?

only put it on last wee and have done 1 trip.
The main reason is its a tiller stear and I plan to do some small bar crossings and need to control the nose of the boat better.
It now plans at almost walking speed, very impressed and money well spent.

Solas props sell a stainless foil (lazer foil) for a lot less $$ than a permatrim and they only need 4 bolts in the leg over the 8 in the permatrim.

For a small one for a 20hp they are around $75.00.

I have had one of these on a honda 50 4 stroke and it changed the boat.

I have heard th se sports 300 type are good, anyone had experience with these. Thinking of putting on on a 40HP Yamaha 4stroke.

Hi haphazard, I have seen plenty of the SE SPORT ones around. They seem to be on bigger motors though. I don't know if they make one for the smaller motors.

I have the SE Sport on my 140 suzuki, and Its not bad but its hard to beat the permatrim they are the best but the laser foil is probably 2nd on the list.

Once I get the $$ i will replace the SE for the permatrim.
