just a question for all you impoundment FREAKS. Do any of you use the Calcutta TE 250 DC reel? If so what are your thoughts on them? What is the idea of the electronic braking system on them? Any comments from anybody about them would be good? Cheers CRABS
PS what Calcuttas do you guys use?

I'm not sure as how to really comment on the DC 250. I have had one for about 3 months or so and it now feels like you are dragging a crow bar over a rock bar when you wind the handle. I'm pulling it apart today to look further. It has about 50-60 fish to it's score card so I'm keen to see why it has let me down.
It casted well when new and seems to have a quality drag.
Cheers,
Johnny

Problem discovered- A collapsed bearing on the main drive shaft in 2-3 months of use from new.
This is why it was terrible to wind and felt horrid.
I'll post a pic of the very tiny ball bearings,,,,,,,or what is left of them if you really want me to.
New bearing on its way from tackle store. For an $800.00 plus reel this is very dissappointing. Lots of modern reels leave a lot to be desired.

yeah i would not be a happy camper spending that much and getting only that length of time out of it but it isnt uncommon to get duds just you think there quality check would make sure there top level reels did not have any defect at all
