Honda 30hp year identification

G'day All,
Can anyone tell me the year model of Honda 30hp eng. no. BAWL3100687. I am considering buying a 2nd hand rig with this engine.

It's either a 99 or 2000 by my reckoning.

Do you know what numbers/letters, if any, designate this as I am led to believe it is around 04/05 model.

I was just going by the serial numbers on boats.net , a US parts supplier, it was a bit of a rough guess as I couldn't find a reference to that exact sequence of serial numbers. Do you have the model code? This and the date of manufacture is on a plate on to of the transom mount below the tiller.

Is it the serial number or the engine number you have there? It's a bit confusing the way they are numbered.

Thanks for the info. I have the engine no. only. I have spoken to him and will be getting more info. tonight. He assures me it is about 2.5 years old and has all the paperwork as he is the original owner, I have no reason to doubt but just like to be sure as I am travelling from Central Qld to Nth NSW to check it out.
