Guys,
Can any one tell me why google earth has the Moreton bay and surrounds so blurry you cannot see anything?
I can just about see my dog in my back yard but cant see the channels in the bay>:(

They don't do water very well. It is not a priority as it is all about land points, streets, etc

Neil, if you are using the free version, the data will more than likely be be several years old and not of a lot of use. When I looked at my place I could see the temporary marquee I had put up for my daughters birthday and so I could pinpoint to the day when the photo was taken. At work we pay for the up to date maps and they are something else.

The resolution overtime has got better, the quality of remote sensing data available to the general public is today far better, some is still old and it's usually just where we want it to be good quality...
Possibly I shouldn't say this on a forum.... actually I will not, a person needs some fishing secrets:), not really secret just largely un-utilized, anyone interested in viewing remote sensing data that can pierce water to a fair few meter's conditions depending can PM and I will link them up, will need broadband.

gee wondering what I got myself into!:) 2 score and a bit so far!.... it's all good.
Have received a couple of replies having trouble getting the resolution better....to do this once you have the first screen zoomed in on the spot in the world you are interested in on the viewer, select that image using the option and it will open another window and use the highest resolution here for the clearest view. max zoom is 100x, if using ozi exp (or other map software) up to 500x I think.
The image is false colour infra-red If I remember correctly - used for discerning vegetation type, crops, % coverage etc, it can shoot a fair way underwater if the water is clear and return a light to bright blue colour if it finds anything shallow enough in the surrounding water that will reflect infra-red.
yeah Marty getting onto them fast at times, the new PMs seem to come in little bunches!
cheers fnq
