Hey guys well, I am buying a 1-3kg 7foot graphite rod for chasing bream on plastics and was wondering, what size reel to use? I am looking at a Daiwa Exceller 1500.. Is this a good size as I will be running 2lb and 4lb braid on it.

Cheers Tom

Yer budget is price important

If you can get a 1000 size straddie or twin power / 2000 size sol or tierra

All reels are good it just depends on what you can afford and was feels right to you

Mate a exceller is a half decent and if you break it on bream you have done somthing wrong.
I use to use a exceller plus 1500 for bream and have caught many mac tuna on it and it still works fine but it is now a back up reel.
I also have a exceller 2500 and that reel has had a flogging used it for everything from medium trevs to barra to bream.
You don't need $600 reels to catch bream ::) but its nice to ;D

Cheers Bk, well, I like the Excellers and I think 1500 should be a good size, are there any other reels that you can suggest around the $150-$200.00 bracket?

Cheers Tom

Shimano Symetre 1500 is a great breaming reel. Mine is loaded with 2lb Crystal Fireline and has handled flathead, tailor, small cod, tuskies and squire as well.

A good buy for around $135.

the straddies better than the Excellers in my opion the two dont compare. Get a 1000 size straddie you wont reget it (for around the 200 dollar mark)

I think you could possibly get a similar size Sol from the US with around 200.

Daiwa spinning reels in the 1500 size and the 2000 size are exactly the same except the 2000 size reels have more line capacity than the 1500 models so in my own opinion I would get a 2000 size reel.
