Just about to put in a order for the Daiwa Saltiga Hiramasa 63s rod paired up with the z4500 h saltiga reel, so a great combo, anyone using ?, any pros and cons, a lot of money would be really upset to get it wrong.

I'm not familiar with the rod but you wont go wrong with that reel. What are you chasing and what lb line? I would assume around 50lb?

With 40lb you could consider going down to the 3500 saltiga game. I run 35lb saltiga on a 3000 hyper with no worries. Is 40lb enough to chase reds with? I've never caught one.

I like to fish light but my outfit had no trouble with 1m trevors and 15kg spaniards. If you are considering doing some vertical jigging I would probably stick with the 4500 though

hi, i currently have the z4500h matched with the 56s rod. For my fishing the 63s was just way too long soft and slopy, i do alot of reef jigging, deep plastics, metal and live baiting for trout, fingermak, emperor, mackeral, kings etc. And if you can afford it the best line i have ever use hands down is the Saltiga Hyper 50Lb braid, its the next step up from sensor braid and is just unreal to use.
I also have the same combo in the over head mith a saltiga z30, on the 56b rod and the same line and i love both of them. i know mates who brought the longer 63s rod only to stop using them for heavy bottem stuff only for poppers etc and buy the 56s.
Hope this helps

Sounds good how does it go throwing out poppers and slugs ?

the 56s is good for throwing slugs and larger pieces of metal around. i quite comfortably throw poppers on it probably not as easy as the longer rod, for obvious reasons, but for the balls my rod has i wouldn't consider doing a swap particularly if your fishing high structure like the lucinda sugar jetty/shallow reefs. In my opnion if you were to do nothing but fish light line for bottem dwellers (sportsfishing i think they call that) ie reds on shoals or just throw large poppers in the open then i would get the 63s but if you plan on doing any similar work to what i have mentioned then i wouldn't consider anything but the 56s, sometimes i wish i had the saltiga deep stick, the next heavier but that would really limit the use to very heavy bottem bouncing.
where you from what you planning to fish for

Went to order the outfit and dicided to completely go the upgrade ended up with a shimano jigwrex s605 spin with a shimano stella 20000 with a 50lb braid. But which braid to use ? Thinking the PE jigger 8 hg by sunline

The Saltiga 4500 would have handled 50lbs no worries at all, the Stella 20000 is a class above, more like 80lbs and can take a lot more drag pressure too.

What species are you targeting and where are you based?

Hate to be the one to break it to you but GT's are going to be a little bit scarce around sydney.
The yellowfin are on around sydney at the moment, they'd be great fun on spin!
