which baitcaster rod?

hey folks, well i have been looking around for a new rod for my daiwa bayard. I have a 6-10kg shimano t-curve at the moment, but this is way to heavy for my needs.

I have noticed that the longer the rod, generally the better casting, but less force for fighitng big fish near structure? So i was looking at around 6'6''. Light to Mediem outfight - maybe a 2-4kg or a 3-5kg, this i am unsure.

Is the heaver rod going to dramatically reduce my casting range?

This will be my gereral rod; flatty, queenie, barra, squire...
