I though I would leave the bait at home today and use only plastics. First time i have dedicated a trip to them. 24's

I cast one out and left in the holder. I was working the other one ahead of my drift. Caught my bag limit on the one dritfting behind the boat. Couldn't get a touch on the one I was working. No burley!

Is it always that easy?

Well done mate, great effort for your first plactics only trip.

If your only getting them on the deadstick rod, may I suggest slowing down the retrieve on your main rod. My theory with that is, your getting them on the deadstick rod, cause it's bumping along the bottom, while your main line (if your retrieve is too fast) is spending half it's time in the water in mid depths. Try letting it sink to the bottom, then leave in for about 20 seconds, then give it short hops, and let it sink again. Just try and leave the plastic near the bottom for longer, and work the rod tip to give it some action. Worth a try anyways.
