Hello,

I recently bought a boat with a Mercury 60HP motor but the anodes fin had been snapped off!

I got a new one but when looking at the way the old one was fitted I'm not too sure what to do and ask if anyone else has encountered anything similar.

Where the hydrofoil has been fitted and four bolt holes drilled, where the anode fits the past owners have taken a small cutting out of each side of the anode. This allows the anode to be fitted with the main bolt up through the centre of it and two of the hydrofoil bolts either side too. Basically, now it is being held in place by three bolts instead of just the main centr one.

What I really want to know is will this have any effect on the anode?

I hope that makes sense anyway!

Carruss.

Very little, if any. An anode will protect about 220 square inches for every one square inch of anode. That's for unpainted.

I doubt that you will have a problem.

Thanks for that, I went ahead and modified it today and it is a very good fit!
