Day trip outside (only just outside :)) to north tip of N.Straddie on wed. Stopped at Mud otw out - no joy. Decided to just to head out to 'spot x' around the north tip of straddie. Fished the mid-arvo thru till about 7pm. Heaps of tiny tuna (reffered to as 'jellybean' tuna by the fella at the bait shop in the morning I) boiling all over the place. Threw 10g slugs at em got heaps of strikes a few hookups but only 2 landed in the end - however they were landed on 2kg line so were heaps of fun and the fights were both around 10-15 minutes of line stripping fun :) Was great to finally give my little straddick 1000 and loomis a real workout :) One of the landed fish was ~1kg the other a bit heavier. Nailbiting stuff on the 2kg line for sure.

Bait fished the late arvo/dusk for a good mixed bad of some big leather jackets, a painted sweetlip (~50cm), 2 good size fingermark (around 60-50cm) a parrot and 2 40cm snapper. We released at least 20 squire just under the 35cm limit - oh well - was good fun just catchin em - plus made sure there was less fish to clean when we got home :)

The magic of the arvo made even better by 3 groups of whales going past - one group no further than 20-30m behind us. They even visibly slowed down when we clapped/whistled and yahood at em as they went past - was very cool!
