Does anyone know how fast a 60 2stroke would push a cruise craft lure 470. They are rated to 70 but a 60 seems a little underpowered

Hi Seaeagle,

I have a 470 Lure with a 60hp 2 stroke Jonno and will get to about 30 knots at WOT. Have fished on many occasions with three up and the 60 2 stroke still punches her out of the hole no worries. Maccamania also has a 470 Lure with the a 70hp 2 stroke Yammie and from memory he gets an extra 4-5 knots. I guess if I had the chance to choose the outboard again I would most likely go with a 70 however it wouldn't stop me making the purchase if it had a 60 as they are an awesome little boat. CC use to rate the hull to handle a 90hp but for some reason they changed the specs.

Shoot me or Maccamania a PM if you need any further info on the 470 Lure.

Cheers

Trent

seaeagle,
i just fitted a 60 4 stroke mercury bigfoot to a similar boat (modified 445 haines) - heavy, and it goes great. Tops out around 35MPH and an easy cruise of 22MPH.
I would think the 60 2s would be fine on this boat. I think the 470 lure would be lighter than my boat, or at least pretty similar.

thanks AZ,
Its an older hull - maybe 85 or so? I rebuilt it over a 2yr period.

Thanks Trent i have a old 445f haines & was thinking of selling the boat and keeping my yammaha for a lure that may come up for sale which has a older motor. I wonder why CC stoped making them cause they look like a awsome boat

Yep, pretty good allround boat for under 5 metres. Macca added an extra underfloor fuel tank which gives him the range to fish the hards and barwon banks which he has done many times in his Lure. I had a few issues with the design of the casting deck . The access hatch mounted behind the esky was a real pain to get to once you filled the esky with ice and fish. I ended up cutting my deck out and rebuilding a new one. It has to be up there with best hull CC ever built, fish creeks, bay and 40km offshore, not bad for a 4.7.

Best of luck with the purchase if you decide to go ahead.

Cheers
