Old EPIRB Question

I was just thinking.....

Now i know as of 1 November it will be mandatory to own a 406mhz epirb in queensland. The legislation also states that you must have this if going more than 2nm offshore... into open water.

However they will still be covering the 121mhz up until February 1st and i won't be travelling into Open water.

This leave me to my question.
Do i still have to upgrade by 1st november, given that my fishing locations don't require me to carry an EPIRB at all.

No you don't have to upgrade.

Good on ya for taking extra precautions by having an epirb when you aren't required to by law.

At least you have still got coverage on the 121mhz until february.
