I just went for a drive down to the ramp at Pinkenba to find it is closed for maintenance.

The signage says it will be closed until the 29th Aug. There is fencing up around the ramp, and the top edge has been ripped up.

A pain while its closed, but it really needs the attention so somewhere else for a while and then we're laughin.

any luck might see a pontoon when it is reopened.

A long pontoon in the middle of a 2 lane ramp would give protection in that exposed spot. I guess we can rule that out then

The work is probably well over due and while it will be a bit of a hassle for a while hopefuly we will end up with a better ramp.

The waves from passing tugs and the like make it impossable to put a pontoon there. Look at the constant repairs needed on the floating walkway at Newfarm because of the wakes from the city cats, their wakes are only 1/2 the size of the ones from the Tangalooma Flyer & Tugs.
What it needs is a ramp behind a breakwall.

What we are getting is a new concrete surface with the old hump taken out and a 10 metre extension.
