do i have to be 16

:D gday im 14 and i have a 10 ft punt with a 3.3 mercury and i was wondering if i need to be 16 to be able to drive it on my own and go fishing.:o

not in queensland if its under 6hp you are able to drive the boat. thats what i have been told but because i have a 30hp on my boat its a bit over so i am unable to drive it.

Re-stickering was popular when I was younger. Mates on the gold coast had 15's and 25's luring under cowlings sporting 5hp stickers. Must of looked suss, two teenagers in a 10 foot boat, with a "5 HP" motor, on the plane, ripping along at 20kts. :o

You would have to think the water police could probably tell just by looking at motors these days what size it might be... If not they probably know most of the serial number sequences for the major brands to get a pretty good idea if in doubt!
