Does anyone know what a 175 hp Mercury would have cost new 4 years ago and what it would be worth today.
It has done 40 hours.
Thanks
Troy

I assume it is an Optimax Troy? They have a list price of about $19,700 at present, street price is probably $18/18.5k. The price hasn't varied a lot in recent years so would suspect they were about $17/$17.5k four years ago.

As to what it is worth, well here is my rule of thumb method. Allow 20 to 25% depreciation in year 1, and then about 10% each year thereafter on a diminishing value basis. It is roughly the same for motor vehicles. That is for an average condition motor with a service record and in average hours up (200/300 hours for a 4 year old motor would be average.) If you run that through a spreadsheet you get about $10k, allow a bit more for the low hours and assume as new condition and I would say ask $12k.

Tried to find one for sale on the net, closest I got was a 200hp Opti with "low hours" for $12k.

Hope that helps.

righto,

Same basic method just different starting base. Mercury don't sell the 175hp EFI anymore, but they still sell the 150hp version. Current list is about $14k. I reckon that would have been close to the 175hp EFI price 4 years ago.

If we run that through the spreadsheet we get about $7.5K, Say ask $9k given condition.
