I just got a message from a contact at Lostock and apparently at a meeting yesterday, State Water plan to shut Lostock Dam to the public in an attempt to save the cost of 1.3 employees. (not good for a facility with only 2 employees) and certainly not good for the fishos and Dave and Janet who own and run Lostock caravan park.
I'll make enquiries today as to whom to contact and who can be petitioned etc and will post as soon as soon as possible.

Gday Gordon,
Lostock is located about 1.5 hours north of Newcastle on the Patterson river and whilst only small it is one of the few dams that seems to retain its level at 90-100% capacity, it does receive regular stocking of Aussie bass from the DPI.
It has a reputation for being a very temperamental dam to fish and in fact in the recent Bass electric event only a total of 9 of 37 teams caught fish, it is known to hold some big big bass though and pays out best during the warmer months.
There is a small caravan park next to the dam and no doubt anyone who has fished would have had the pleasure of meeting Dave and Janet Hooper who own the complex, If these plans were to go ahead they would actually lose access to thier own property.
Heres a few links to some footage from the dam, it is truly one of the most scenic Ive come across and due to its 20km goat-track (albeit sealed) road is generally a welcome quiet place to retreat for a weekend although it does get very busy on long weekends, easter and christmas.

Cheers
