What size hook do your fellow fishermen use,on snapper,35 to say 60cm?

from what i've heard Gamakatsu hooks are suppose to be the best around in their Octopus range... snapper that size you could use anything from a 5/0 to an 8/0.

generally 2 hooks snelled works the best.

For Bay snapps in that range I go down to 3/0 or 4/0 in something like a Penetrator

Snapper that size I would use 6/0 Mustad Demon finewire circle hooks.
Larger fish and general inshore including spotties (on a 100lb mono trace)
I use the larger 8/0 in the same hook. Strip baits pinned at the top with the point and gape well exposed. As little lead as possible, drifted back in the burley trail.
Non-kirbed and finer gauge than the Gamas, sensational hook-up rate.
Cheers.

Nothing fancy for me, I just go a standard 4/0 mustard suicide hook. They seem to work fine and cost way less, but then again I haven't tried any of those new-agey hooks - so there probably a lot more effective.

G'day Dave,

I've just gone to an Owner suicide pattern with a blood let point - exceptionally sharp and good penetration, I've had a look at the owner circles as well, both in the 7/0 size.

Cheers

Would have to go along with Neil, penetrators are one of the best hooks i use, along with circles 3-4-5's depending on the area i fish.
if fishing the MM or sandhills i'll up the sizes to 5-6-7's
Even use penetrators for jew.
