Hi fellas,
I'm considering getting into a Fisher 520 Dual centre console. I currently have a Razerline 6.3 Olympian/150 Yam 4 Stroke, which I'm going to down size, not because of anything but our economy. Has anyone had any experience with this model? I was thinking of a 90 or 115 Etec. Fully loaded with 3 blokes, ice, fuel etc on occassions. Does anyone think 90hp is under powered with the 6mm hull? 490 kg basic hull weight. I may be travelling 80-100 Naughtical on round trips around the Capricorn region, if the weather is exceptional. Thanks dij

Hey Dij, when you mean economy, are you downsizing for fuel economy? or expect some change in the bank after selling your boat.
I would expect that there would be not that much differrence in fuel consumption between the 2 rigs.
I reckon the 90hp with 3 blokes and gear to be underpowered.

To Stevea,

A Bit of both, money in my pocket when I sell & then better fuel economy, especially at todays forcasted fuel prices. When I do go outside and travel 100nm round trip & if I only save 40 or 50 litres-that could be 80-$100. I can then take the kids crabbing or estuary fishing occassionally. But than again I'm sick of eating mud crabs! You only give them away when you get too many. Cheers dij

A boat like that ,would likley set you back, decked out with electrics etc brand new about $53K, and around consumption about 2kms per litre (90-115suz 4stroke-not sure of the Etec). Dont know what your old boat would be worth or what fuel economy you get. I guess towing weight would be a factor.
Different story if you are wanting to downsize for the estuary or for handling etc. If you get too many mud crabs & you dont want to let them go, you can always send them my way:P .

You could always ask the dealer?

a 140 Suzuki would push it alright.

Cols brother has one and has put a 140 Suzuki on it. Goes like the clappers. I reckon you could get away with a 90 Sukuki, not too sure about the Etecs though. I know with the 140 Zuke, when cruising, it uses bugger all fuel because it is hardly working. Maybe if you went down too low in the hp, you will have to work it too hard and you will get the negative effect. See a write up in the June edition of the QFM on this boat. I've been in it and it's a humdinger.

Mate i to think the 115 etec's a better option ... I remember someone telling me the 115 was a better block than the 90 !!
I'm waiting on my new boat thats powered with a 115, it fibreglass & bare weight
is 500 kg ... The dealer recomended the 115, to give it more punch to get up &
plain quicker..... Which is what you'll need in order to save fuel !!!!

Hi. I have a 6.3m Olympian Super Cab. Excellent boat for its size, and will certainly hurt me to sell. It's a great fishing boat and is really family friendly as well. 150hp is more than adequate. Very safe, just don't put too much weight forward as they tend to list on occassions. This particular boat was in the finals for the amif fishing trailerable boat of the year in 2005. Dij
