Seahorse,

Bill Corten had a vmax 150 on his 625, he takes people out all the time doing the south passage bar crossing course, when I was on the boat it had 348 hours on it and it performed flawlessly, as you can imagine it would have copped quite a flogging in and out of the bar all the time particularly hard on and off the throttle, I know I rang its neck during practice.

Just to add to that, just saw Bills replacment boat, a 685 outsider with a 250 4 stroke, so got to consider the confidence he has in the yammies.

The golden rule for 4-strokes has always been, up to and including 115Hp its Yamaha over 115 its Honda.

Why?? Just a timing thing (Honda were first to market) or something else that differentiates them?.

I had not heard that one before. I don't own either, but would happily buy a Honda or Yamaha if the particular motor suited and I liked the dealer.

Cheers

For me 90hp possibly a zuk, 115 definitely a zuk, 140 probably not zuk, 150 definitely zuk, 175 possibly a zuk, Vmax are just another orbital technology engine:(

Fnq just wondering why you would have the115hp zuk but possible not the 90 or the 140 since they are all the same outboard just that the head is boared out from the 90,115to the140 hence the reason the140 is lighter than the 90 or at least thats what i've been told as im looking at the 90 to go on the back of my southwind. :-/

Soggy I think the e-tec may be a better choice in the 90hp and the 140 is a little tapped out at that hp - mostly the torque, possibly any 115 di 2st will match it's performance and economy, The 115hp fits nicest of the 3 imo.
Still I would own any of the 3 it's just at the computer I can be down right choosy8-)
