hi all.

looking for gps marks on virtual earth or google earth, ( the same i think ? )
anyway nothing seems to be in the right place going by the courdanence
on the map they display.

anybody know anything about this ?.

not too sure what sort of data is entered on Google Earth, but maybe it is not WGS84 like your GPS uses, I guess a simple Google will find your answer though.

From Google Earth Help;

"Google Earth uses WGS84 datum."

I have no problem with Google Earth co-ordinates, the locations and coordinates match up for all my marks. I even located a beacon visually on the map and the co-ordinates were identical to my GPS marking of the same beacon.

I have both my GPS set to WGS84 datum also. What is yours set too?

What format do you have your datum set up as in Google Earth?.

Go to;

Tools>
Options>
3DView>

lets hope it is just a case of reading it wrong, or setup wrong.

thanks guys.


carnt seem 2 find those settings on virtual eath may be not
the same as google. is google eath free? virtual eath was but
it not worth a pinch of shat if i cant check location of marks.

Yes it is, there is a free version or you can pay for more features. I find the free version does all I want.
