Howdy
some footage of a huge Snapper weighing in at just over 20kg yes 44lb from a couple weeks back. Caught by Stuart Sluggett from Rainbow VIC out deep from Arno Bay in Spencer Gulf SA.
the little snapper in the background part of the 4 way hookup is over 20lb, the other 2 got away, 1 tangled & lost boatside the other never was stopped & eventually bust off. this all took place 20mins after Paul Schulze pulled a Snapper over 36lb from the same school.enjoy
cheers

it was Stuarts own setup, think it was Shimano 4500 baitrunner & approx 50lb braid but can't be sure. hooks we use are 4/0-6/0 gamakatsu's.
generally run baitrunners but there is a couple pfluegers that have come & gone.
this is a pic from later that night.

i've chucked plenty of placcies around & my PB is approx 23-25lb(released so don't knowexactly for sure). plenty 18-20lb but the big suckers just seem that little bit lazy on them. having said that i'm only using 2500 sized reels & 15-20lb braid & have been nearing the end of the line on a few occasions & had to lock up or lose the lot & bust off so who know's. squidgy fish 125mm killer tomato, white lightning shads 125mm & 140mm lemon chicken/pillie flick baits seem to work the best
cheers

this is par for the course, 5kg snapper on 125mm white lightning shad
