enjoy the video...a few small mactuna caught at kingscliff...and then i launch through the surf off black rock(pottsville) to fish the reef about 2km offshore...

so no excuses if the boaties are scared of the launch;D ;D the fun of kayak fishing

Great video, was sure you were gone a few times.

Just got mine yesterday, don't think I will be trying the surf for a long while.

That looks like awesome fun!!!!! one of these days I will get myself a decent yak.

I didn't see any rods setup on that launch though:P only problem I see with fishing from a yak is that your reels will always need a good clean after every trip.

Ahh... mate... had a similar crossing at Angels beach near Ballina near 12 months ago...you know its going to be interesting when a crowd gathers on the beach to watch you paddle out!..made it..just...then once your out...you gota get back in!

Generally speaking if you hit a wave head on at speed you'll be right...

Although I wont blame you for thinking you're toast if you have a 2m wave break about 15 metres in front of you ;D But yeah, go hard and go straight is pretty much the general idea for surf launches.

Couta1s yak is pretty good for that, those hulls punch up pretty well and all the gear gets stored in the hull.
