G'day fellas,

I have found two small corrosion holes in my tinny that are going to get a peen rivet inserted into each. Problem is where do I find a stockist of alloy peen rivets these days?

It is not worth going thru the dramas of stripping the boat bare to get to these spots to weld, so I am just going to drill them thru to 5mm and whack in a rivet and peen them closed.

Have tried Bias and Glasscraft and got unknowing stares back.

Jack.

Try the avaition industry, should be able to get some there I recon. If not try the boat manufacturers.. of the popular brands ie quintrex allycraft etc. I notice they still use rivets in their boats :)

jack, you might be better to try an aeroplane/helecopter repairer i now we needed some for a job years ago & thats where we got them from & unfortunatley the place we got them from used to be on the side of the gateway arterial rd at eagle farm but has since been demolished good luck

Our local yacht club has an old life boat as a start vessel. It needed some rivets replaced, but no one could find any. The guys decided to make their own rivets from large guage aluminium wire. Worked a treat.

Yeah its in the bottom of the hull two about 8 inches apart.

Not worth getting welded up yet, so its a rivet job to seal it off for a year or so.

I spoke to my mate today and he rung is dad (the ex-sheety) on load speaker he was asked if he had any floating around. he couldn't help but laugh. He said his old work place hadn't used them in 20 odd years.

So i would take up builders offer.
Once again another Ausfisher helping out another ausfisher i need
WELL DONE TO YOU BUILDER
