Looking to get a lecky for the tinny, so can anyone advise what size lecky and type/size battery I may need. I will use it only to position the boat against wind and current when bait fishing soft plastic style for Bream.
The boat is a 3.4m tinny with a 9.9 with an extra 150kg with me and gear. I fish from the stern and midship as its a deep v tinny.

a 40lb would be just enough IMHO. Dont scimp on the battery size, so it will last you all day.(100ah) Then you need a serious charger. ( Minn Kota is teh best value)

I think I know where you can get perfect but used batteries - about $60 ex telecoms backup systems.

I suggest that you mount it on the bow - its easily reversed and its far far easier to control from the front.

I agree with Gary about mounting on the bow -- I had a 40 lb transom mount on my 3.7 tinnie and changed it to a bow mount -- far more versatile - especially when nudging between pontoons after bream.
