Mercury stator

I have just found out I need a new stator on my straight 6. Any suggestions on where to but a new one? I think it is a late 80's motor. Serial# A715246. Thanks.

Hi Ramjam that's bad luck. Where you running dual battery set up ?

Anyway what part of the world are you in, I know a place on the Central coast NSW, that might have one probably cost the earth though.

More info please. What problem are you experiencing and how was a faulty stator diagnosed?

Thanks guys, I am at the moment running 1 battery but that will change. I was having a service done at home the other day when the mechanic said it was not idling properley so he ran a meter over the stator and found it to be faulty.

Define not idling properly? What did the mechanic say about the stator readings? or did he just say its no good?

Sorry, he may well be telling you the truth but I am sceptical and i am very sensitive to spending my customers money on parts.
