I have had fun and a little success carving out Lures from timber painting them etc.
At present I am playing with carving plugs, making molds and forming soft plastic lures in these. I am having trouble getting on to the right product.
The latex I am using needs 50% of its surface exposed to air to cure, as do the Sellys products. They could not direct me to anything different. Neither could the latex supplier.
I know to achieve a soft plastic that will set totally enclosed it will have to be a 2 pack mix. Could any body direct me to supplier please.
I know what you are thinking, there area million lures out there whats wrong with this bloke. I just like making things in my workshop okay.

There used to be a shop in Melbourne [possibly still there] called ONE STOP PLASTICS in Carnigie i think from memory. I used to get a 2 pak product from them to make chess figurines etc nd they used to have a fishing section to make hard bodied plastic lures. Would be worth a try. This was 10 years ago though

Gordon,
The gear you need is Plastisol, which comes in a liquid form
check out armsmodelit.com.au
The product they sell is called fishabait and is baked in an oven.
I haven't actually tried this product, but it looks easy enough.
The staff at Arms Model it are very helpfull.
Goodluck,
Matt

Hi Gordon,
I have been mucking around with "bunnings" cheapy silicone it works pretty good. not quite as durable as some but it has most of the right attributes and will harden in a mould over a few days ... I put a post in the "soft plastics quality control" thread

G'day Wild fisher.
Probably my best is a Cod lure, Red Cedar, swims like a dream, pops to the top nicely.
My main problem is I havent worked out how to bring my photos from My Pictures over to this site.
If any one can run it by me I can do something with photos.

Hey Gordon,
Me three! That darn My Pictures thingo keep saying the file is too big...
Someone told me to go into Microsoft Office then go across to Picture Manager (or something like that) then from there you can select and 'compress' your photo files. Haven't sussed it properly yet but will at some point.
Anyway you could try it...or like I'll do soon is go to the Ausfish "FAQ" section and there might be something there about it...
Good luck and if/when you come across a user friendly solution, let 'us know.
I was flat out just loading in a photo for my signature let alone the avator.
