hey fellas just a quick question for you about my battery set up. i currently have a century 400 marine pro that i just bought for my 4.2 m tinny that runs nav lts anchor lt 12 v outlet ,bilge pump and my sounder. the guy i bought the boat off is also giving me a tiller steer minkota that he got with it but never used i think its around the 50lb thrust. my question is can i run this off my 400 size battery or do i need a seperate battery? ive noticed everyone with electric motors have a seperate battery. why is this? i have an alternator kit on the motor so it recharges as i run the motor, with the motor being a pull start i dont need battery power to start it if the battery did go flat. any help would be good . cheers nick

Your marine pro is not a deep cycle and will die a premature death if used to power an elec. motor.

You need to get a proper marine grade deep cycle battery.

The electric motor may also interfere with your sounder.

Try talking to a bloke in any Battery World store.
They like to volunteer plenty of info, and you may even find the right setup at a good price if you work on him.
