doesn't matter John - you can log on with VMR Gold Coast if you want - as long as you remember to log off!

it does matter. its pointless logging on with gold coast as if there was an incident the job would be handed over to the closest vmr. proably best to log on with vmr sandgate.

I thought that Sandgate only operated at weekend?

It depends when you are travelling.
Not all of them are open all the time. They each have different hours of operation.

You could log-on with Redcliffe if the hours suit or MBTBC VKQ 447 operate weekdays for log-on/off and will pass on details to CG Brisbane in an emergency if needed.

John,
The Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club at Manly Harbour operate a radio service and will log you on & off. If there are any drama's they contact Coast Guard Brisbane (also in Manly) and a crew is called in.
Their callsign is VKQ 447.

if there is an incident - I'm sure you are talking about a mayday?
then you would know this goes to all stations - so doesn't matter who you log on with.
if you are talking about not logging off, then the log is handed over to the nearest OPEN response unit - which after hours and weekdays would be the Coastguard. Of course, if you failed to log off at the appropriate time, your log on unit would assign the alert to the nearest unit where you said you were going.
I could log on in Redcliffe and say I'm travelling to Gold Coast and back, yet wouldn't need to log on with Gold Coast as well as Redcliffe.
I maintain it doesn't matter - as long as you log on and log off appropriately.
edit - the initial question related to 3 units. of course, whichever is open at the time would be the obvious choice to log on with ::) . John - no matter where I leave from, I log on with whatever is open - VMR or Coastguard, doesn't matter. when the VMR is open, I always log on and off with them becauseI am a member and they have my details.
good excuse for you to join your local vmr and support those who look after you..
cheers,
Mick

KiwiJohn,
I you're heading north of the Brisbane Port, contact either Redcliffe or Sandgate - south log on with Brisbane if you have the range. As noted, just remember to log off with the coast station. Opening hours are best to be aware of.
Redcliffe have the most open hours Mon-Thurs, 06:00 - 21:00, Fri - Sun 06:00 - 21:00 24hrs
Send me a PM and I'll let your know about our associate membership - it's like the RACQ on the water.. and you get a call sign which we keep a register of.
