Caught a couple of nice long tail tuna on marabou jigs this morning off Mackay.
Man they are great to catch. Didnt even have to wind, just cast into the school and let the jig sink for a few seconds and was on. One even nipped me on the foot. Also got a nice cod and trout on livies.

Heres those jigs , a little worse for wear. They are cheap and work well. They also work well trolled quickly.
Cheers

supertinny,
do you actually eat maccy's or do you just keep them for bait?
I see alot of people on this site keeping them, just wondering

Nice longys there mate. Why are you sticking your foot in it's gob?::) Haven't tried the maribou jigs on the longys, but tied up a few flies on jigheads and scored good fish on them. You get the best of both worlds, something you can cast on conventional spin tackle , and the pulsing, flowing body of a fly. Ben

Hey plaztics, I use a shimano 6500 baitrunner with 30 pound braid and a 6.8" ugly stik and 55lb leader. I mainly use it to live bait spanish but it comes in handy when chasing tuna with lures as you can cast a light weight a mile.

Cheers mate, yeah that sounds heaps more like a bait fishing set up. Oh well, it obviously worked hugh!

Do you use mono or fluoro leader?

I use mono only because i have a hand line full of it, i go through a lot of it and its cheaper. I would prefer to use fluoro though.
