Can someone please advise whether any outboard brands have the same prop shaft splines/sizes etc?
Can a Mercury prop fit straight onto a Yamaha motor?
Are Johnson prop shafts different altogether to Yamaha or Mercury?

What are flo-torque hub kits?

I'm looking for a 13 1/4 x 17p prop. and there are heaps of Mercury around on the net but not too many Yamaha.

Thanks in anticipation.

Nah different, the only way to get the merc blades to fit a Yam is with a Yamaha flo torq hub adaptor.

FNQ,

I found a prop for a mate which was a 16"P yammy prop and it went straight on a 150 honda just like all the merc props do:-/ and the boys at QLD O/B wreckers recon all the big merc/yammy/honda props will interchange. Also PMC props will fit these engines but the issue is the spline length on OMC stuff is different, but you can use an OMC prop on a merc /yammy or Honda for testing, if you use it long term you may twist the shaft;)

Mick..The props will interchange.. ie merc/yammy/honda but you will need the correct thrust washer (the washer between prop and gearbox) to suit the prop and your gearcase.

Garry think it may be the case with the big props but the smaller ones with the 4.25 gearcase props like the prop in the post I am not sure. I cannot get one to fit my 90hp yam, it's very close.

Thanks Daz for the offer I have already tried the merc props a couple of times, although these days I am becoming less certain of myself all the time:)

So it would seem that buying a Merc prop and then a thrust washer to suit is probably not the most economical way to go and I should just look for a Yam prop?

Thanks to the advice from all, I got a cheap SS Yamaha prop on Ebay and bought the right thrust washer from my local Yam dealer.
