Since 1994

Steve, why then is the earliest join date august 2001?.
Was it a different forum or format before then?
Also, did you actually start ausfish yourself and if so ,why?
Did you come from a computing /fishing background?

The site started in 1994. There have been 3 forums, the original could not be merged into the next forum. I still have a copy of it though and there are some screen shots on this forum or the old one somewhere. The forum before this one is located at http://www.ausfish.com.au/forum/YaBB.pl

Yes, I started it myself. Originally developed and coded it in notepad. A lot easier these days with Dreamweaver, etc, etc.

I started it as a resource for visiting anglers so they could get info on rules, charters, locations, etc. Up until recently I still had a listing of charter operators in each state listed for free. In 14 years of giving them free listings about the only time I would hear from one was if there phone number was wrong. Hence why the free listings no longer exist.

I had difficulty in getting this info off the net in 1994 when I went overseas and thought other people would have the same problem coming to Australia. It then evolved from there.

Congratulations Steve,

I'm sure all who access this site realise the wealth of value as a fishing resource it is, apart from the mateships that begin here online and develop into genuine friendships as we share our love of fishing.

Cheers

Thanks. But a lot of people make this site great. I just made it/started it. The site is what it is today due to a lot of time put in by members helping members. Plus a hell of a lot of time and dedication by the moderators in keeping the site on track.
Love them or hate them/me the site would not be the friendly environment that it is today if some tough calls were not made over the years.
