Hi guys I recently bought a horizon 4.4m side console wiyh a 50 honda on the back. When I bought the boat it came with 3 props a plastic 4 blade an alloy 4blade (cavitates heaps) I think this is 11.5 pitch top speed around 20-22 knots at4500-5000 rpm and a three blade which is alot bigger than the other two props and does go a bit faster but reaches 7000rpm flat stick (i dont run at this) Im not sure on the pitch on this one as i can't find any numbers on the side. But I am sure that it shouldn't be doing these rpm's. When doing 4500 rpms with the three blade i can only manage about 13-15 knots. I think I need a new prop that suits my motor can anyone suggest something that would suit and what speed I should expect from my rig with the right prop. Thanks in advance BRENDAN.

G'Day Brendan,
7000rpm sounds a bit much, I think Honda recommend about 6000 rpm for wot. Do you know if the 3 blade is the original fitted to the motor? In regards to the 4 blade, when you say about 4500 to 5000 rpm, is this full throttle, because if it is, plus the excessive cavitation, it sounds like it is too big for the motor/boat combo. Give Solas propellors ring or email and they should be able to help you out. I have dealt with them in the past and found them to be quite good.

Hello Brendan, In trying to get the perfect setup for my Stabicraft with a 50hp Honda, I tried numerous props, I ended up settling for a Solas 4 blade 10 ½ x 13p, 6000 rpm wot and 56kph it also gives me excellent hole shots and is very smooth, it also holds the plane very well on the backs of big swells, hope this info is of some help, cheers Graeme

Thanks guys i will try solas and see what they say. Moss I'm not sure if the 3 blade is the original or not. And yes 5000 is flat stick with the 4 blade. CHEERS BRENDAN
