Did a trip last week to the top of Fraser Island to some new marks we wanted to try. Excellent day weather wise and we caught some good fish. Fished in some shallow stuff on the shoals for some nice red throat, parrot and coronation trout. After that mark quietened down we fished a deeper mark we had for some reds. We were fishing with whole cuttlefish and any big dead baits we had. We caught three reds with the best being 10kilo. A lot of our bycatch was Maori Cod and some massive filthy iodine bream. We had plenty od bust ups on red's and also lost a few good ones to the men in grey suits. Can't wait to fish that mark again more prepared.

Kratzy,

Did you go from Waddy? Where you up the north of the Gardiners?

Nice fish, shame about the bust ups, what gear were you using?

nice red, is there a better looking fish then one of them when they come to the top I think not!!!;D

the sharks are a pain up that way but if you land a few nice ones like you did all is good.

what was the run like in the deep water?

do you have any more pics as they look great?

Regards
Dwane

Yeah Craig we where north of the cape and the run was actually good we where using 6 ball sinkers to get to the bottom sall day. The bar was good we crossed at the one mile crossing which had a big wide deep gutter. Very good fishing out there we just do not get enough time to fish it. The other stuff we took photo's of where the coronation trout and some good maori cod around five kilos. i will get them of the camera and post them.

we where fishing in around 140ft of water most of the time. We didi not throw any lures because the most fun up there is the big gts that we do not have the gear to hold them. I have lost to many lures using 24 kilo mono and just having no chance of landing them. There are plenty of spaniards up there at the moment following baits up but we did'nt target them.
