Mate i still reckon you should look at a new battery. On a small boat, you can't really have too big a battery as it just takes up a lot of room, especially when you dont need a battery for engine cranking. One the size of the one you saw on my boat should give you enough juice to run all the gear (18Ah).
If you buy a second hand battery, it could already be a few years old and may not last much longer. You can get 12v 7Ah batteries for $30 new. They are relatively small. Perhaps might be worth grabbing one of those, and then you can always add a second one later to double your capacity to 14Ah, which should be plenty. If you have LED nav lights, then you might get away with just the single one, but I'd do some on water testing first. I think the FF140 sounder u have can suck a bit of power, although the manual states only 0.5 Amp hours for the sounder. LED lights would probably be like 0.1 Ah or less, the radio.... not sure, but probably not any more than the sounder, unless you like to talk a lot :)
Worst case scenario, you get 2 x 7Ah batteries, brand new, for $60 and that should do the trick.

Go a brand new one. You will find that you will be running more stuff off it later.

Thats an OK one mate but after you add in shipping, its $91. You can get a 12v 18Ah battery from BIAS Boating for $89.90. Ok its 2Ah less, but its an Absorbed Glass Matt (AGM) battery which is better than a sealed lead acid (i.e. works even if upside down!) and will last a fair bit longer too (i.e. longer service life). I'd be grabbing that over the ebay one mate, plus if u get it locally, at least you can return it if there is any problem easily.

ok after all the info that you have been given i have 2 gel batteries both are new although i belive they are a 3 or 4 years old i have also been told that they have a 10 to shelf life. i bought them for my boat but the marina sunk it (marina will remain un-named at this stage) i have used these type of batteries for the past 12months & can't fault them. upright on side ect they still work well. i'm not sure of the ah but they are up there and i'm sure more than you need. i also have a deep cycle battery that i'm useing ion the car at the moment if that would be better. gell batteries $100.00 each deep cycle replace with a near new noarmal battery & its yours.
